The Village Justice Court handles Vehicle and Traffic (VTL) appearance tickets issued within the Village Boundry by Nassau County and NY State Police. Additionally, all Village issued parking, Building Department and Code Enforcement appearance tickets are returnable in the Village Justice Court.
The Village Justice is elected at-large to a four year term. The Board of Trustees annually appoints an attorney as Acting Village Justice to serve in absence of the Justice. The Village also has Village Prosecutors who prosecute all cases. A Clerk to the Justice and a Deputy Court Clerk handle all court dates, mail and fines received on summonses.
Arraignments, conferences and trials are held in the Village Court on the second and fourth Tuesdays of the month. The Court Room is located on the main floor of the Village Hall and the court sessions are open to the public.
